Stand Out Track - Has to be 'Hammer Smashed Face'. A Cannibal Corpse classic that even Jim Carrey saw fit to have the band perform in Ace Ventura: Pet Detective! Updating their thrash based sound from debut 'Eaten Back to Life', 1992's Tomb Of The Mutilated is a more complex effort with maddening, unforgettable riffs courtesy of Bob Rusay and Jack Owen, pounding bass provided by Alex Webster and incredibly fast drumming from Paul Mazurkiewicz. One of the greatest albums in Cannibal Corpse's long history, Chris Barnes really perfected his signature low guttural style here, shredding his larynx to summon images of murderous rampage and violent atrocities. Offensive doesn't come close to describing the lyrics written by Chris Barnes but that's part of the fun (take a look at the track-list above as an indication of the depths of depravity explored) but if you take these lyrics too seriously you've sadly missed the point. This is glorious Death Metal performed by a band that remain as popular today as ever. Cannibal Corpse are a defiant middle finger in the face of mainstream mediocrity.
