10 Greatest One Hit Wonders Of The 1980s

9. Your Love - The Outfield

For anyone thinking of anything '80s, you're most likely thinking of something larger than life. Whether it was the sounds of new wave making their way into the mainstream or the seedy sounds of the Sunset Strip, you were pretty much guaranteed something loud, forceful, and more than likely with an unhealthy amount of hair. At the same time, we apparently had a certain affinity for power pop as well.

Yeah, even though they may have fit pretty snuggly on the new wave end of the spectrum, Your Love sees the Outfield taking on a groove that feels ripped straight out of the music of the Cars or even the softer side of Cheap Trick. Alongside a fantastic performance, this is probably one of the most airtight rock songs to ever grace the charts in the '80s, capturing the silly love song attitude while also trying to crib some of the melodrama found in certain types of heartland rock.

Yeah, you heard that right...just listen to the shimmering guitars behind this and imagine it being played over the likes of Bruce Springsteen and it could almost pass as a heartland rocker. The kind of love the Outfield were talking about may have been fleeting, but it sure was sweet to indulge in for a little while.
