10 Greatest One Man Band Albums

1. Foo Fighters - Foo Fighters

After the dissolution of Nirvana, it would have been perfectly understandable if we had never heard from Dave Grohl ever again. I mean, how else are you supposed to move on from having one of your best friends kill themselves just as you were reaching the height of your fame? In the case of the Foo Fighters though, Grohl wasn't necessarily looking to start a band...the music found him.

Looking to get out of the funk he was in after the loss of Cobain, Grohl spent the better part of two weeks in the studio making this record, only bringing in a couple of friends to add a stray guitar here and there. Once the songs were in the right place though, Grohl started to see the potential of making a full band out of the project, eventually drafting in Pat Smear from the Germs and the rhythm section of Sunny Day Real Estate to become part of the band.

Even when it was time to take things on the road for the first time, the record remained untouched, with the initial cassette of the songs being the debut album that we know today. For as much as the Foos might seem like one big rock and roll family these days, this album is proof enough that without Dave, there would be nothing.
