10 Hard Rock Albums That Were Worth The Wait

7. Lamb Of God - VII: Sturm Und Drang

In June 2012, Lamb of God were in the European stage of their tour to support their new album Resolution. When the tour reached the Czech Republic, vocalist Randy Blythe was arrested by local authorities on suspicion of manslaughter.

Fans of LOG and the wider heavy metal community knew that while Blythe had an intense and angry stage presence, off-stage he was regarded as a true gentleman so news of his arrest drew shock and confusion from all corners. Accusations against Blythe stemmed from a show the band had played two years prior which resulted in injuries and eventually the death of a nineteen year old local man, and after a month-long trial, the case was dismissed and Blythe was released on bail.

Immediately following the trial, the band announced that they would be going on hiatus, but quickly returned owing to ramping legal charges that faced Blythe and the lack of band income due to not being able to tour. 2015's VII: Sturm Und Drang then was seen more as a relief when announced, but upon release, fans were treated to another chapter in LOG's visceral barrage of groove metal, drawing lyrical inspirations from WWII, Jan Palach, self-obsession and indeed, Blythe's time in Czech custody.
