10 Hard Rock Albums With Only One Good Song
5. Weathered - Creed
Creed has garnered a reputation as being the poster children for everything wrong with post-grunge music. Although most of the band repented for their musical sins with Alter Bridge, many still cannot get behind the derpy sounding affectations of vocalist Scott Stapp.
While the band's 3rd album Weathered is seen as the last hoorah for this era of Creed, it opens much stronger than many were probably expecting. Mark Tremonti's pummeling riffs on "Bullets" bring the song to a different sonic level that many Creed detractors were happy to hear. Instead of the plodding rhythmic structures and cliched lyrics, this song had an almost metallic force that hits you right from the start.
Even Stapp's vocal affectations on this song do a great job at building the tension in a very natural way. Add to that a cheesy-as-hell 2000's CGI video, and this song is bound to be a great time capsule for post-grunge's heyday. Unfortunately, the album starts to take a bit of a nosedive shortly thereafter, with Stapp's more ho-hum vocal delivery dominating much of the track listing.
Aside from the album's more boring moments, "Bullets" is a great slice of hard rock that showed what the band members were capable of once they started Alter Bridge.
