10 Hard Rock Bands That Need To Be In The Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame

4. Motorhead

In the grand scheme of things, The Hall of Fame doesn't need to take in everyone who reinvents the wheel. While it certainly helps your chances for being groundbreaking for your time, there are numerous acts who have gotten in just because they are phenomenal at their one trick (a la AC/DC). If they can get into the pantheon of rock giants, why the hell is Motorhead just swept under the rug?

Without the presence of Lemmy alone, there's a good chance that no real heavy music would have existed as it does today. From day one, Lemmy's way with words and take no prisoners attitude to playing has been the foundation for his signature brand of heavy rock. Aside from the icon status he has achieved, most of the people who looked up to Lemmy have made their way into the Hall, with James Hetfield going so far as to call out their exclusion during his speech at the Hall of Fame.

Then again, maybe the Hall considers them to be more of a heavy metal band than an actual rock act. If that's the case though, how do you explain acts like Black Sabbath and Metallica getting in, along with Lemmy insisting at every show "We are Motorhead, and we play rock and roll." Given that Lemmy has shuffled off this mortal coil at the time of writing, it's at least time to show the man some respect and upgrade that gritty sound to gold standard.
