10 Hard Rock Bands Who Had TWO Great Singers

6. Serj Tankian/Daron Malakian - System Of A Down

In terms of vocal teams in hard rock, System of a Down is an anomaly unto itself. After first breaking onto the scene in the early 2000's, many fans were drawn to the band's music thanks to the unique vocal prowess of Daron Malakian and Serj Tankian.

At the band's inception, the group was mainly Malakian's beast, with him writing most of the music and letting Tankian sing the bulk of the material. As the band continued on though, the duo began to be more insistent about their own ideas, leading to some of the best vocal teamups in the history of hard rock.

Most bands with two singers tend to have each singer go back and forth when taking lead on a particular song, but that mindset didn't always prevail with System. Instead of just leading from beginning to end, Tankian and Malakian would go into these joint harmony parts for their hooks, which made for stunning performances like on the final chorus of "Chop Suey" or the breakdown of "Hypnotize."

Over the band's recording career, both frontmen had the perfect inflection in their voice to bring their point across to the audience without ever stepping on the other's toes. When nu metal could be seen as a bunch of noise, this duo showed how much genuine talent has to be put into this type of singing to get people to react.
