10 Hard Rock Bands Who Kept The Same Lineup

8. Rage Against the Machine

Rage Against the Machine were a four-piece firebomb when they emerged on the rock scene in the early '90s. Instead of trying to ape the alternative grunge style that was prominent at the time, these guys were true freaks of nature that combined rap, rock, metal, and everything in between to create tunes of pure aggression.

For as much power that's behind these tunes, each member ended up carrying their weight equally, with drummer Brad Wilk's classic rock style of drumming blending perfectly with the almost mathematical funkiness behind Tim Commerford's bass. However, the true sonic madman behind the band was Tom Morello, who brought a technical complexity to Rage's tunes while inventing new effects and noises that no one had ever heard before.

The instrumentals were already solid as a rock, but the sound became pure steel once Zack de la Rocha stepped up to the mic. Blending rapping and almost spoken word, Zack's delivery produced some of the most raw vocals of the time on tracks like "Freedom" and "Bulls on Parade," where he brought out every sort of political injustice that afflicts our world right now. Even when the band splintered into different factions, there was never a conversation to replace anyone in Rage. For as much frustration they directed at each other, the band always stood as one of the firmest brotherhoods of anger.
