10 Hard Rock Bands Who Made 3 Great Albums In A Row

6. Baroness

Baroness live everywhere from punk, sludge, metal, hard-rock and more. Putting them in a genre is redundant, all you need to know is that they’re great.

Although their most recent album, Gold & Grey is probably their best, it’s their three album run between Red Album (2007), Blue Record (2009) and Yellow & Green (2012) that’s earned them a place on this list. 2007s Red Album created a landscape and allowed the band to begin combining the sludgy sounds of the south with prog, melody and massive harmonies. It was the start of the band moving away from their more simplified punk and they perfected it on their next effort, Blue Record. This 2009 album was grander, produced by indie legend John Congleton and the band combined meticulous crafting and dynamics with anthemic sebsilbities to boot. It sounds like the best jam album ever.

By 2009, Baroness had proved themselves to be brilliant, but they smashed every expectation on Yellow & Green, writing a double album that is heavy, full of pop, ambient and large. It’s an effortless show of great songwriting, each disk is its own beast but together they make up one heck of an experience.

Over the five years in which they released these albums, Baroness proved they weren’t just an elite hard rock band, but one of the best bands of their time making music.
