10 Hard Rock Live Albums You Need To Hear
9. Live and Dangerous - Thin Lizzy
Thin Lizzy may be the single most underappreciated band of the entire '70s. They may have had a fair amount of love in their home country, but when it came to breaking America and beyond, their star potential seemed just out of reach. None of Lizzy's main catalog ever took off on any large scale, but they did end up giving us one of the most hard hitting live albums ever.
Right when the band was at its peak, the band documented their European and American tours with their greatest material. For as much attention that was focused on Phil Lynott's lyrics, his song stories get amplified to the nth degree once brought they reach the concert halls. Whether it's the free flowing balladry of "Dancing in the Moonlight" or getting the crowd into an absolute upheaval on "Jailbreak," Lynott certainly had the charisma to keep the audience in the palm of his hand.
And let's not forget the glorious performance of "The Boys Are Back In Town," whose everyman attitude resonated with almost every person in the crowd that night. Thin Lizzy had already proven themselves to be phenomenal songwriters, but on Live and Dangerous, they were able to hone their rock chops and discover their edge.
