10 Hard Rock Songs Added At The Last Minute
1. Pour Some Sugar On Me - Def Leppard
During the mid '80s, Def Leppard had seemingly faced every setback a band could have. While trying to followup the hard rock bombast of Pyromania, the band went through multiple producers, countless hours of recording, and drummer Rick Allen losing his arm before finally unleashing Hysteria upon the world. If the band had decided to turn the record in early though, they would have missed out on one of their most successful songs.
As the band started to lay down vocals for the final unfinished song for the record, singer Joe Elliott started to fiddle with the hook line of "Pour Some Sugar On Me" once producer Mutt Lange went on a coffee break. Hearing it after returning, Lange was convinced that he heard the greatest chorus of his career and demanded that the band record it before handing in the record.
Slapped together in just a few days, the band ended up delaying the release of the record by just a little bit longer so they could squeeze in this track. Though Hysteria started pretty strong, it wasn't until "Sugar" got picked up on pop radio that everything went nuclear. Thanks to just a few short hours in the studio, Def Leppard had become the new faces of rock and roll.
