10 Hardest Metal Songs To Play On Guitar

6. Bulls On Parade - Rage Against the Machine

At the start of the '90s, Rage Against the Machine truly did feel like the band for everyone. Being one of the first successful rap rock acts, the fusion of hip hop, rock, funk, and even bits of metal pretty much covered anything your average music fan was into in the age of alternative music. Though something like Take the Power Back and Killing in the Name may be classic now, the strength of Bulls on Parade shows Rage knuckling down with riffs that could cut through concrete.

There's a good chance that a lot of guitar players are confused that this is so high, given that the main riff is only built around an octave line by Tom Morello. Sure, this song might be a walk in the park on paper, but the reason it earns a spot here is because it's virtually impossible to replicate Morello's style.

Aside from just being the guitar player, Morello's role as the makeshift DJ of the group makes for sounds that seem almost alien, as he sweeps his hands across the fretboard and plays the toggle switch almost like it's a separate instrument altogether. Though any guitarist can get the effect of the wah pedal, the art of actually making these inhuman noises sound natural has been virtually trademarked by Morello over the years. Not the most technical of riffs to play, but definitely a workout if you want to actually play along with the record.
