6. Behemoth - 'The Satanist', February 4, 2014
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SnTL1L8a6YI Legendary Polish blackened death metal band Behemoth release their 10th studio album in early February, 2014. The release will kick off a co-headlining tour with fellow blasphemers Cradle of Filth in Munich on Feb. 7. Perhaps the most compelling reason this album is highly anticipated is that the band's leader and vocalist Nergal (Adam Darski) could well not have been here to make it at all. It has been well-publicised that in August of 2010 Nergal was diagnosed with leukaemia which was originally thought to be advanced to the degree that it was beyond treatment by chemotherapy. This however proved not to be the case and after undergoing a bone marrow transplant in late December 2010 he was ultimately cured. In a recent interview with Metal Hammer the iconic frontman explained his choice of title this way, "Satan is the most misunderstood figure in the world. He represents the truth and spirit of man, the freedom and honesty of who we are. I was raised as a Catholic and so I was told a lot about Satan, but it wasn't the truth. Satanism is about life and liberation and love for freedom. I have Satan in me, flowing through my veins and through my music." While some of us would vehemently disagree with his opinion of the album title's object there is no doubting that the release is one of the year's most anticipated on the blackened death metal scene, especially in light of the Nergal's recovery from near fatal illness.
