3. Kid Rock
Across history, there are those few artists that seem to defy the parameters of genre as we know them today. Before things became more or less genre fluid on the charts, you'd have to look to people like David Bowie or Bob Dylan for making such drastically different sounding material across their long and storied career. Then you have people like Kid Rock...who aim for innovation and clock out at mediocrity.
Ever since the '90s, Kid Rock has prided himself of being a jack of all trades, but a master at absolutely none of them, as he boasts his rep as a Detroit cowboy pimp. Even for some of the legitimate hip hop chops that he had back in the day, a bunch of his material wouldn't even cover the bottom tier of what people like Run-DMC or even the Beastie Boys were doing around the same time.
Although he seemed to be on far more stable ground in the country area, the fact that he still sells himself as a badass figure just becomes all the more hilarious as he gets just the slightest bit more gray around the temples. This is no longer the kind of dangerous music you thought it was. At best, this is the kind of rock reserved for middle aged parents that want to feel rowdy and dangerous again.
