10 Iconic Music Festivals You Must Attend In 2020

2. Sziget

Here’s a question you should ask yourself: What if Fyre Festival hadn’t been a complete, catastrophic disaster? Well, for the closest thing to an answer, look no further than Hungary’s Sziget festival.

Based on Óbudai-sziget Island, Budapest, this event takes over the island for a week long music and cultural festival that sees over 1,000 performances annually. With crowd sizes reaching approximately 500,000 people, this event is often referred to as a European Burning Man.

Party trains with their own DJs are available from a variety of stops in Western Europe to transport budding music fans to the event. What better way to hype people up for a massive festival than to get the sesh started on the way there, after all?

Like others on this list, the line-up is typically a mixed bag of genres with previous performers including Kendrick Lamar, Arctic Monkeys, Muse, Motorhead, Calvin Harris, The Prodigy and Sum 41. As we’ve seen already, such variety in acts tends to increase the scale of a festival and, with a cool half million attendees, this has clearly worked for Sziget too.

Sziget is not just a festival; it’s a completely mental holiday, situated outside of reality. Take me there now.
