Debbie Harry, the incredibly captivating lead singer of punk/new wave band Blondie, has undoubtedly earned her place as a key fashion icon in music. Appearing other-wordly at times - not through her dress sense but her calm, collected, almost detached attitude Harrys onstage persona was the epitome and personification of the term cool. Her platinum blonde hair teamed with dark, smoky eyes and bold dresses made her reminiscent of Marilyn Monroe in the 1950s, but with a gritty, punk twist. Harry commanded a great deal of power when onstage, and was surrounded by an aura of mystery. While there have been many attractive women in the music industry, Harry stands out as so much more than a singer with a pretty face. She encapsulated a whole look and attitude and as such has become an instantly recognisable figure in pop culture.
