10 Iconic Rock Stars Who Guested On Pop Songs

8. Setting Sun - Noel Gallagher

Part of the appeal of Oasis in the early days was the fact that they were bringing rock and roll back into the charts. As much as they may have been indebted to acts like the Beatles from back in the day, they stood out like a sore thumb in between all of the house music that was going on around the same time. Then again, even some of the more straightforward acts have a lot broader tastes than you would give them credit for.

In between the classics that Noel Gallagher was writing in his downtime, he also developed a professional relationship with the Chemical Brothers, being the brilliant voice behind their song Setting Sun. Though this might not have made that much sense at the time, hearing Noel's voice soar above the glitchy beats actually goes over a lot smoother for people who expected the classic Oasis sound.

This turned out to be just the tip of the iceberg for Noel though. As the years went on, Noel would start bringing that kind of production into Oasis' sound, like the album Standing on the Shoulder of Giants going for song textures a lot more and turning them into fully fleshed out songs. The B-sides even had some room for electronic acts as well, with the Prodigy later doing a remix for one of their tracks. Noel may not be a card carrying member of the EDM world or anything, but a song like AKA What a Life couldn't have been made if he hadn't tried this out first.
