10 Incredible 2000s Bands That Are Still Killing It

9. The National

The National broke through in the early 00s during a garage rock revival that saw them make their way up with bands like the Strokes and Arcade Fire. The band have become legends of the American indie rock scene by making a sound uniquely different from their contemporaries. By creating a sound that explores chamber pop, Americana and moody post-punk, their albums are deep and gorgeous musical experiences.

Since then the band have been on excellent form releasing Sleep Well Beast, Trouble Will Find Me, each to excellent reviews from popular music site Pitchfork. Whilst it can be said that The National are the artsy indie fan's dream, we should take them any day over boring guitar bands rehashing the past.

Last year the band released I Am Easy To Find, to widely positive reviews. They were praised for expanding their sound, introducing female vocals and going grander than they ever had before. Unlike many bands on this list, The National will never find a formula and stick to it, they’ll continually express themselves through music while letting themselves experiment, expand and grow in the best way. Long live music like this.
