10 Incredible Rock Singers Who Were In TWO Great Bands
5. Scott Weiland - Stone Temple Pilots/Velvet Revolver
At the start of the grunge explosion, Stone Temple Pilots really seemed to get a raw deal. Even though the band had songs in line with the more tortured aesthetic of Pearl Jam, they were marginalized by the OG grunge fans for being posers riding the coattails of the real greats. As time turned a corner though, people started to realize just how great Scott Weiland could be as a frontman.
While the albums were still alt-rock through and through, Weiland was one of the most interesting frontmen of the day, with his look changing very much like David Bowie during his glam period. Even though his drug problems resulted in uneven albums, the hard rockers were still more than willing to collaborate with him any chance they could.
Once STP took a break in the early 2000s, Weiland became the vocalist for supergroup Velvet Revolver, where he found himself playing off of music legends Slash and Duff McKagan. Up until his untimely death in 2015, Weiland continued to make new music with everyone from the Wildabouts to another supergroup entitled Art of Anarchy with Guns N Roses guitarist Bumblefoot and Disturbed bassist John Moyer.
Now that Scott is no longer with us, many fans are left to speculate what else he could have given us if he hadn't fallen prey to his demons.
