10 Incredible Songs From Musicians Who Knew They Were Dying

7. I'm Not Gonna Miss You - Glen Campbell

"You're the last person I will love. You're the last face I will recall. And best of all, I'm not gonna miss you."

One of the more on-the-nose songs on this list from country musician Glen Campbell.

The Rhinestone Cowboy and Southern Nights singer was a huge success in the '60s and '70s, with a personality and charisma on par with his musical talent that earned him a network TV slot from 1969 to 1972. Campbell would continue to perform until 2013 when his 2010-diagnosed Alzheimer's disease began taking too much of a toll on his body, after a few years of him being flanked by his children and teleprompters to get through shows.

I'm Not Gonna Miss You is one of Campbell's final songs that he wrote (alongside producer Julian Raymond) and was made for the documentary chronicling his life. A deeply personal song that showcases Campbell's renowned sense of humour, it holds nothing back in detailing his struggles with the disease.

While Alzheimer's is lowly taking away his memories, Campbell comments that while he is sad for his loved ones having to watch him deteriorate, that same affliction means that he won't remember them enough to even miss them, almost in a way of unfair peace.
