10 Indie Music Artists That Deserve More Love
3. Declan McKenna
A young artist who is making waves currently in the scene, having complex and thought-provoking lyrics that even Bob Dylan would appreciate.
Declan McKenna began releasing singles at 16, and though that's not too rare in the era of YouTube, he quickly rose to hold a moderately high pedestal, but he still retains the "underground credibility" due to many people not knowing his name - it's a huge shame that this is the case, as he is definitely set to be a future legend.
It's not rare for artists to tackle serious issues in their music, but Declan often mixes them with upbeat sounds. "British Bombs" is a prime example, criticising the UK's involvement in Yemen - he also really flexes his punk edge is this tune, with it being a lot punchier that his other songs.
"The Key to Life on Earth" is almost comparable to a modern symphony, with the atmosphere being huge. It's one of the most beautiful compositions of the decade.
