10 Insane Stories Behind Classic Albums
2. What's the Story Morning Glory - Oasis
Not many other debut albums can claim to have the sheer size and impact as Definitely Maybe by Oasis. Being one of the few gargantuan rock albums of the post-grunge era of the '90s, the magic of the Gallagher Brothers was palpable just from the opening strains of songs like Supersonic and Rock and Roll Star. The plan next? Do it all over again...just with a bit more chaos.
Operating in the same studio where Queen made Bohemian Rhapsody, Noel Gallagher was known to slave away every day with Owen Morris to get the songs in shape to where they needed to be, which yielded classics like Wonderwall and Don't Look Back In Anger. As Noel was in the studio though, Liam was known to frequent the pubs outside, which turned to mayhem when he turned up to the studio with a bunch of drunken friends while Noel was recording.
Leading to one of the biggest fights the brothers had ever had, Noel ended up hitting Liam over the head with a cricket bat before they both ended up driving away from the premises with the equipment still smoking. What makes it even crazier is when you consider that this was one of the first sessions that new drummer Alan White had ever had when working with the band. Stuff like this would normally spell the end of any other band...just another day for the Gallaghers though.
