10 Legendary Albums That Fans Originally Hated

6. Tusk - Fleetwood Mac

The biggest problem that comes with most of these records is follow up syndrome. When you've already made one of the greatest records of your career, the world now has its eyes glued to you, just waiting for you to do the whole thing over again. Most people can buckle under the pressure, and Fleetwood Mac actually managed to give it a fair shot on Tusk.

That's not to say that this album was made in the greatest of headspaces though. In the aftermath of Rumours, every couple in the band had been broken up and were still pretty bitter at each other. Since they all retreated into their own separate corners, this double album is almost a spiritual successor to something like the Beatles' White Album, where every band member uses the rest of the band as session musicians on their own solo tracks. While it may have seemed like a recipe for disaster, these songs sound excellent, like Stevie Wonder writing one of her classic songs on Sara.

Now that they had money behind them, this record also isn't afraid to get weird in places, especially on Lindsey Buckingham's songs where he brings in a marching band for the title track. Lindsey had said that he was always a fan of the way Brian Wilson made his layered masterpieces for the Beach Boys, and on certain parts of this album, Lindsey almost reaches that same level.
