10 Memorable Rock Bands Who Only Released ONE Album

6. Antemasque, Antemasque (2014)

The formation of Antemasque put an end to the creative split of The Mars Volta/At The Drive-In originals Omar Rodríguez-López and Cedric Bixler-Zavala, signalling the demise of Bosnian Rainbows and Zavalaz.

With a fresh outlook and a well of inspiration to draw from, the duo headed into the studio with Mars Volta drummer David Elitch and long-time collaborator and friend, Flea – yes, that Flea – on bass duties.

Antemasque hit the alternative rock scene hard in 2014 with their driven, self-titled, 12-track debut. In departure from the lengthy, progressive sounds of Volta, the record contains a short, sharp approach to song writing, a stripped back sound and a newfound punk sensibility, with every song punching well above its weight.

In the year that followed their first and only album, Antemasque made touring bassist Marfred Rodríguez-López (Omar's younger brother) a permanent member, and switched in Travis Barker – yes, that Travis Barker – on drums. Though a second album, entitled Saddle On The Atom Bomb, was in the works, it never saw the light of day and the group haven't played together since 2015.
