10 Memorable Rock Bands Who Only Released ONE Album

3. Sex Pistols, Never Mind The Boll*cks, Here's The Sex Pistols (1977)

This one may come as a surprise, especially considering how important the Sex Pistols are to the punk scene, their persisting popularity, the reach of their music and every different CD you've ever seen with the Sex Pistols brand on its cover.

But the Pistols only recorded one album in their entire career. Every other album out there is comprised of early recordings, live recordings, soundtracks and compilations.

1977's Never Mind the Boll*cks, Here's the Sex Pistols is an onslaught of raw punk power that somehow, all these years on, still feels fresh, engaging and thoroughly anti-establishment. The band's scrappy, treble-heavy instrumentation and Johnny Rotten's unconventional vocal approach, neither really singing nor speaking, helped redefine what rock music could sound like. And it should go without saying that every single one of the group's hits are on the album – Pretty Vacant, Anarchy In The UK, God Save The Queen – they're all here.

It is a shame that the Pistols left us with such a scant body of material, but then perhaps the refusal to do any more is precisely what made them the kings of punk rock in the first place.
