10 More Rock Songs That Insulted Other Musicians

7. Stardust - Menswear

Menswear - who sometimes wrote their name down as "Menswe@r" because they were super cool - were a British band that released two studio albums in the 1990s.

Despite having little staying power as a group, Menswear were pretty popular at the time and had enough confidence to pick on a pretty titanic member of the Britpop scene.

Primal Scream were also riding high in 1995, as was their lead singer Bobby Gillespie. He lived a very stereotypically rockstar life - fast cars, big parties, beautiful women, basically every other cliché of the genre that you can think of.

This became a bit of a running joke amongst the community, one that Menswear would take out into the open with their single Stardust.

There is no doubt as to who this song is about, as the opening line is "Bobby Boy’s full of bravado." They're probably not talking about Bobby Kennedy, are they?

Some people claim that this song is more tongue-in-cheek than vicious, but it does include lines about how Bobby would sell his own mother for a slice of fame.

Maybe there's a reason Menswear disappeared for so long...
