10 More Rock Songs That Insulted Other Musicians

3. New York - Sex Pistols

Of course the Sex Pistols dedicated space on their one and only studio album to slagging off a fellow band.

Although, considering they insulted their own record label and the English monarchy on this album, should we really have been surprised?

Nestled in amongst the God Save the Queens and the Anarchy in the UKs is New York, a song about early punk pioneers the New York Dolls.

Alongside bands like The Stooges and The Velvet Underground, the Dolls are recognised as one of the founding bands of what would become 70s punk. As the new boys on the block, clearly the Pistols decided that one way to cement themselves would be to take on the established guard.

The band also shared a manager in Malcolm McLaren, but let's be honest, this was almost definitely done for clout.

Even though the Dolls had already broken up by this point, this record still attracted the ire of former guitarist Johnny Thunders. He released a song called London Boys on his first solo record in response to being called out.

In short, punk is all about not caring what other people think, unless they are also in a punk band.
