3. The Weeknd

Through his career, Abel Tesfaye, aka ‘The Weeknd’, has explored aspects of RnB, rock, pop and hip hop, his forthcoming album promises to be just as eclectic, with the two tracks we’ve heard from it so far existing at completely different ends of the musical spectrum.

While the track ‘Heartless’, showcases more of the brooding and malicious melodies we’ve come to expect from The Weeknd, ‘Blinding Lights’ flips this completely on its head, and offers up a delicious piece of synth pop, with catchy hooks and surprisingly PG lyrics for the typically NSFW musician. It’s so drenched in 80’s pop goodness I half expected to turn into the ‘take on me’ music video just by listening.

There’s no release date for this album yet either, but after making his acting debut in the Safdie Brothers’ ‘Uncut Gems’, It's safe to say that Abel has a lot on his plate at the moment. Nevertheless, the album promises to be a pop classic.
