8. Digital Distortion - Iggy Azalea

Originally scheduled for release last year, Iggy Azalea delayed the release of Digital Distortion because of problems in her personal life. Azalea's relationship with basketball player Nick Young broke down and the couple called off their engagement, leaving the Aussie rapper hardly in mood for recording, performing live and doing press juggernauts. Fair enough, really.

It's not like Azalea went into full reclusive mode though, with singles Mo Bounce and Switch being released in March and May, respectively. The former sounds exactly like you would expect while the latter is almost irritatingly catchy, with it's traffic light based hook. One does wonder if any “deeper” material will follow and if Azalea will allude to her break up and show that there is depth to her music, beyond the twerking and dissing.

Not that she should necessarily be looking to go to such depths. This is a woman who has made a career on aggression and public beefs, continuing down that path will probably serve Iggy Azalea well. If the release of the record on 30th June shows another side to her though, it could give her the chance to transcend her own image.
