And now we come back to the one kid who started it all. When he first broke onto the pop scene, Justin Bieber was just a humble little kid uploading little clips of himself singing to YouTube. It may have been cute for what it was, but record labels ended up seeing dollar signs.
Though Bieber eventually got a record contract and started pumping out one hit after another, "Baby" has remained the one song that's hard to look back on. For as much as Bieber has distanced himself from his more "adorable" years, this song has held up as one of the biggest earworms of the late '00s, complete with lyrics that try to give a teenager a broken-hearted ballad.
Though the song may have been a weird inclusion on the pop charts on its own, the Ludacris verse seems so out of place, with the guy known as a badass being subjected to talking about playing on the playground and reminiscing on his first crush at 13.
"Baby" has certainly kicked up a stink across the world, but it's almost a part of history at this point, serving as the moment where we let the pop machine infiltrate Internet stars. Beliebers around the world may still stand up for this song, but this is something that you hold more as an unhappy memory rather than an actual good song.
