8. Cannibal Corpse - Hammer Smashed Face
Who in the Hell?:
Cannibal Corpse are one of the most controversial death metal bands, and that's no easy feat. From 1988 to the present day they have been scandalising the world and selling millions of records in the process. Cannibal Corpse could have filled out this entire list and many of their songs couldn't be considered due to their titles alone. Their lyric writing process is to see all their songs as short stories that could be adapted into horror movies.
Sinister Sounds:
Before the growling vocals, "Hammer Smashed Face" has the musicality of late '80s mainstream metal underpinned by some solid bass playing. The overall sound is best described as somebody summoning the Devil in a dive bar.
