10 Most Disturbing Metal Songs That Will Make You Sick

6. Carcass - Swarming Vulgar Mass Of Infected Virulency

Who in the Hell?:

English extreme metal band and pioneers of goregrind (a fusion of grindcore and death metal) Carcass had an initial ten year run between 1986 and 1996, reforming in 2007 and remaining together since. Despite their penchant for filth and gore, the group also use their music and lyrics to draw attention to animal rights issues.

Sinister Sounds:

Ferocious from the outset, "Swarming Vulgar Mass Of Infected Virulency" demands the listener jerk to attention, compelling them and their bodies to follow the thrashing instrumental. The varying vocals adds a nuance to the track.

Publishable Lyrics:

"Pick at the scab - septic blood starts to weep / Rip at my face - ruptured growths start to seep / Blackhead and boils, pustular cysts / Chapped commodones, perspiring zits / Pierce the blane - infected tissue starts to bleed / Diseased and plagued - tumours chew and feed."

Censored Storyline:

An ode to how disgusting the human body has the potential to be, amplified by images of disease and infection. The lyrical journey sees the protagonist decimate their rancid body with a sense of urgent violence and disturbing undertones of lustful glee.
