10 Most Divisive Albums In Rock Music History

7. Tranquility Base Hotel and Casino - Arctic Monkeys

At this point, Arctic Monkeys have pretty much earned the right to do whatever they went. Ever since their beginnings as a scrappy rock band and conquering the world at the turn of the 2010's, there seemed to be no place that was off limits for them as long as kept being authentic to their personalities. And it seems like they sort of tested that theory when it came time to record Tranquility Base Hotel and Casino.

If you were to go through every single genre that could possibly describe this band, lounge would not be one of them, and that's exactly where they decided to go on this record. Throughout the majority of the songs, Alex Turner is trying to be as suave as possible, almost to the point where he's sounding more like a parody of someone trying to be a lounge singer on songs like Four Out of Five.

Then again, that might actually be the point. When you listen to this album, you know that you're not going to be getting the same songs like Do I Wanna Know?, and the vibe of this record is miles away from anything they did back in their garage back heyday. These guys have matured by leaps and bounds at this point, and this does sound like the record that they wanted to make, but it just might not necessarily be for everyone.
