10 Most Emotional Onstage Moments In Rock

8. Snuff - Corey Taylor in Baltimore

As the '00s came to a close, the entire metal community was rocked by the death of Slipknot bassist Paul Gray. Though the core members of Slipknot hadn't done extensive interviews revealing themselves behind their masks just yet, Gray's presence as the heart of the 9 clearly took its toll on musicians and Maggots alike. While Slipknot may have been in limbo at the time, Corey Taylor found a way to heal by celebrating the music that he loved.

Going out on an acoustic tour by himself, most of Taylor's material was based on cover material, Stone Sour stuff, and the occasional softer song from Slipknot. When ducking into Baltimore for a gig, Taylor starts to give a little speech about Paul before starting to play the signature Slipknot ballad Snuff. As the song plays on though, you can tell that Corey is clearly hurting and mourning the death of a close friend.

Whereas most of the song goes along exactly how it's supposed to, the final verse is where Corey really starts to lose it, getting emotional as he tears through the final lines before ducking his head under his hat to hold back the tears. Even though the footage is taken from in the crowd, you can feel that everyone in that building is there for catharsis, as they all try to move on from one of metal's most crushing blows. Gray might not be with us anymore, but as long as we have moments like these, his spirit is guaranteed to live on in every song Slipknot plays.
