10 Most Infamous People In Rock Music History

5. Lars Ulrich - Metallica

The entire Metallica enterprise has never really been a stranger to controversy throughout their history. In the process of them becoming one of the biggest metal bands of all time, we also had to deal with some questionable decisions, like when metalheads got mad during the Black Album, purists got mad during the Load album, and when everyone got mad during St. Anger. In every single era though, people have not been the kindest to the Danish man sitting behind the drum throne.

It’s not like hating Lars Ulrich is a generally new thing though. As far back as the days of Master of Puppets, the rest of the guys have been known to critique Lars’ drum skills, which falls more in line with just playing as fast as he can rather than actually keeping a solid beat going. What really turned the corner was the Napster fiasco, where Lars sued the music piracy company and turned into one of the most snobby looking rock stars in the world virtually overnight.

The man has also not really kept up his craft in some people’s eyes, with different videos online showing him not being the same as he used to be in the glory days of the band. For all of the bile that’s thrown his way though, Lars did at least have a hand in the business side of what Metallica is all about and has built them up into one of the biggest bands in the world. As crazy as it sounds, without Lars being there from day one, the Metallica that we know today probably wouldn’t exist.
