10 Most Insane Controversies In Rock And Roll Music

9. Murder Backlash - Slipknot

For as long as rock and roll has been around, there have been concerned parents that are looking to call this the work of Satan. Just like people did with video games in the '90s and even with the movie Joker in recent years, people are convinced that having this kind of art out in the world does a lot more harm to society than good. This is supposed to be an outlet for that anger though, but sometimes you find yourself on the wrong end of that argument as well.

Then again, it's no surprise why someone like Slipknot would be controversial with parents in the early '00s, especially with the masks that make them look like real horror movie villains when they take to the stage. About midway through the decade though, that carnage became frighteningly real, when two fans of Slipknot ended up murdering one of their friends and supposedly singing the lyrics to the song Disasterpiece as everything was going on.

Though no lawsuits ever charged Slipknot for the losses, Corey Taylor was always very vocal about the power that he has to spread joy with his music. There might be some fans that use this angry music as an excuse to do terrible things, but for every one of them, there are millions more that are going to use that music to change the world for the better.
