10 Most Trippy Albums Of All Time

1. Station To Station - David Bowie

David Bowie had gone through more changes than most musicians have in their entire career by the time he reached Station to Station. With Ziggy Stardust being a distant memory of the past, Bowie went into his next record as the sullen Thin White Duke. Across Bowie's next releases, he would take the more new wave and avant garde musical approaches and expand it to accommodate his unique songwriting.

The only downside that Bowie gets from this time is his physical state, which he describes as one of his absolute low points. As Bowie recounted, the Thin White Duke character was completely overtaking him, leading him into much darker territory. His diet had diminished to the point where he was just eating peppers and milk around the clock every day, with cocaine being used to supplement his appetite.

Looking back on his recording output, Bowie described Station to Station as so chaotic that he doesn't even remember laying down any of the tracks due to his chemically compromised state. Whether he was aware or not, the material produced on this record is probably one of the most outlandish that Bowie would ever attempt. The cocaine probably took years off of Bowie's life, but Station to Station is the one physical relic that remains from his darkest days.
