7. Meanstreak
It always sucks when the ladies of rock have to be compared to the boys' club all the time. It's just like back when you were a kid and everything you said and did came back to what your parents are all about. Even if the gals in Meanstreak may have some famous family members, don't let that dissuade you from some of the most underrated metal of the '80s.
Yeah, in case any of you don't know, the three main members of Meanstreak are each married to a member of Dream Theater, which makes talking about them always come back to the prog rock legends. On the other hand, any John Petrucci lick wishes it had the same amount of attitude as this band had in their prime. While not necessarily going toe to toe with Megadeth or anything, the debut record from them is still an absolute scorcher from front to back.
After things fell apart though, they never really bothered to go on tour or even release any new material after taking time off to build their families. If you're really into the thrash scene though, there's no reason to not pick up an album like this. It's not necessarily Master of Puppets, but it might on the same level as something like Overkill's Feel the Fire or even the first handful of Testament releases.
