10 Most Underrated Rock Ballads Of All Time
5. Where Did It All Go Wrong - Oasis
Very rarely will you ever find a song that's meant to be about one singular thing. Aside from the diss tracks that come out of the music world from time to time, it's easier to make up stories to make your songs seem a lot more symbolic to those who are listening. When you look at the band behind this song though, it's easy to see Where Did It All Go Wrong as an autopsy of Oasis' final years of the '90s.
Having lost over half of the band, the Gallagher Brothers came back from the brink with Standing on the Shoulder of Giants, after having sat out the rest of the '90s after the mammoth sessions for Be Here Now. Once the critical reception started to turn around on their 3rd record though, Noel seemed to change his tune about the record as well, with the entire song being about the sour side of your reputation.
As much as the line about sticking around until the day you die can be about Be Here's reputation, it seems like it has more to do with the Gallaghers' fame than anything else. These are some of the biggest musicians in the world and life moves a lot differently once you actually have the cameras on you. This entire song is basically the moment where Noel started to ask himself when it stopped being fun.
