10 Most Underrated Singers In Modern Rock
6. Chris Daughtry
Many will write him off for his American Idol background, or the band's recent less-than-great albums, but Chris Daughtry has one of the best raspy voices in rock.
Chris Daughtry first appeared to the world on the 2006 American Idol and many were shocked when he was eliminated after only a few weeks on the live shows. Daughtry wouldn't be stopped however, as he quickly formed his band and released the debut self-titled album. Over the course of the bands five albums, Daughtry has produced some bangers including, No Surprise, Waiting For Superman, Life After You, Gone Too Soon, Call Your Name, You Don't Belong, and Crawling Back To You, each showcasing his vocals in various ways.
The song we've picked to highlight Daughtry's vocals is a song the band wrote and recorded exclusively for the video game, Batman: Arkham City. It's a good song, especially when you realise it's written from the perspective of Batman, but the final minute is what's really worth noting. As they spiral out of the final chorus, Daughtry raises his voice to previously unheard levels and really belts it out for Batman. It's a heck of a performance and par for the course for Chris Daughtry.
