10 Musical Collaborations That Didn't Really Work

2. River - Eminem And Ed Sheeran

Eminem could have set himself up to be one of the greatest rappers alive if he had decided to take a break after the Slim Shady era. Albums like the Eminem Show and The Marshall Mathers LP have become standards of the genre, and while not every line has necessarily held up that well, they're still some of the most raw anger ever heard on a hip hop release. That was the '00s though...and now we have the Eminem that's hitting his dad phase on River.

While the more mature version of Eminem has never been shy about using pop singers like Rihanna on his tracks, seeing Ed Sheeran on here is definitely not the right fit. Although Ed always came from a slightly hip hop background with the way that he writes, his signature emotional style of singing doesn't match with Em's angry flow at all, almost sounding like they're trying to sing two separate songs at the exact same time.

Ed Sheeran is by far the best part of this song though, as Em tries to top himself with just how many cringy lyrics he can fit into every single line. Though most of the lines on here could be his worst, what takes the cake has to be him talking about his former relationship by saying "just sh*t on my last chick cause she has what my ex lacks." The minute that that line was committed to tape, we all knew we were never going to get a Kim or Cleanin Out My Closet or even a Real Slim Shady ever again.
