10 Musical Reunions That Were A Disaster

2. Blink-182

The whole mantra of pop punk from day one has been about not growing up. Whenever you throw on something like Green Day's Dookie, you're never really concerned with the more mature sides of life, instead throwing it back to the days of adolescence all over again. When a band does decide to grow up though, it's growing pains do come at the expense of some key members.

As Blink-182 started to move into a more alternative direction on their self-titled album, tensions were so high that Tom Delonge quit the band, causing everything to devolve from there. While everyone else worked on separate projects for the foreseeable future, the pop punk movement ignited again in the early 2010's when Blink announced they would be coming together for another record. Though Neighborhoods proved that these guys still had their chops down, the personal relationships really started to erode once it came time to tour.

As work started on newer material, Mark Hoppus and Travis Barker often found themselves catering to DeLonge's musical visions, instead wanting to move them towards the space-themed material he was making with Angels and Airwaves. Even the sessions for Neighborhoods were strained, with DeLonge working in a different studio than the rest of the group during the production. Eventually, it all proved to be too much for Hoppus and Barker when they kicked Tom out of the band and moved on with Matt Skiba from Alkaline Trio. It isn't the worst thing in the world to grow up, but sometimes even the strongest of friendships tend to drift apart.
