10 Musicians That Got Fired From Huge Bands
9. Jason Everman - Nirvana AND Soundgarden
When the Seattle scene was starting to come into its own during the late '80s, no one was really a snob with who played in what band. If you go back and look at the lineups from what would soon be legendary acts, you can find band members coming and going day after day, as everyone tried to land on the kind of lineup that made the best music. It would be bad enough to be kicked out of a huge band, but Jason Everman had to deal with getting booted from two of the biggest names in grunge.
Looking to explore the Seattle scene, Everman first struck gold when he became the second guitarist for Nirvana, even appearing on the album cover for the record Bleach. Though Kurt Cobain wanted a two guitar band, he didn't let Jason perform on Bleach despite him paying for the studio time to record the album. After finding himself leaving Nirvana, he seemed to land back on his feet when he was asked to join Soundgarden once original bassist Hiro Yammamoto left.
Aside from one cover of the Beatles' classic Come Together though, Jason was deemed not the right fit with the rest of them either, being let go within the span of a few months once Ben Shepherd was brought in. Despite not having the same kind of royalty checks as his former bandmates, there are only a handful of musicians in the Seattle area who can claim to have a resume that this guy had.
