10 Musicians Who Cheated Death
1. Thom Yorke's Deadliest Troll
Any casual fan of Radiohead probably knows that the era of Pablo Honey is something best left in the past. Regardless of how much it was popular at the time, the post grunge stylings of stuff like Creep and Stop Whispering absolutely pale in comparison to something like OK Computer or Kid A from a few years later. Then again, if Thom Yorke wasn't careful, we wouldn't have gotten any of that at all.
Even though they didn't love being on MTV, Yorke's troll performance on MTV's Beach Party is still one of the funniest things they have ever done. During the performance of Anyone Can Play Guitar, it's clear that Thom has run out of sh*ts to give and decides to jump in the pool in the breakdown.
Wrong choice, bud. Given that he was wearing Doc Marten boots at the time, Yorke nearly drowned in the pool before grabbing onto a nearby ledge. He's not out of the woods yet though. When he actually got to the surface, a roadie managed to save him again when he tried to grab a live mic while still sopping wet. I don't know what they were paying the roadie that day for his troubles, but he sure as hell earned his paycheck.
