1. Dimebag Darrell
Dimebag Darrell - real name Darrell Lance Abbott - was the guitarist for the heavy metal bands Pantera and Damageplan, both of which saw him as a founding member. With a name like Dimebag Darrell, you know this musician was one hell of a grungy showman.
He found significant success in the business, still being considered one of the most influential guitarists of all time and frequently appearing in "Greatest Guitarist" lists. Sadly, while his music legacy has stood tall, many people know him best for the tragic nature of his final moments.
In 2004, Damageplan was playing a show at the Alrosa Villa Nightclub in Ohio when an unstable fan called Nathan Gale stormed onto the stage. He shot Abbott multiple times, causing him to die at the age of 38.
Alongside Abbott were three additional deaths, those being; Jeffrey 'Mayhem' Thompson (the band's security), Nathan Bray (a fan who tried to help) and Erin Halk (an employee of Alrosa Villa Nightclub). Police shot Nathan Gale immediately after the incident.
