10 Musicians Who Died On Stage

9. Ty Longley

The death of this guitarist is a horrifying and poignant message about the importance of health and safety. His death, and those who suffered from The Station nightclub fire, was entirely avoidable, making this entry a real cautionary tale.

For those unfamiliar with Longley, he was the lead guitarist of the American rock band Great White, a band that managed to produce two platinum-selling records in the mid-to-late 80s.

Unfortunately, they are best known now for the infamous fire at The Station nightclub in Rhode Island that took the lives of many.

Due to the negligence of the nightclub owners - allowing the attendants to go over capacity - and pyrotechnics from the band, the venue caught ablaze almost instantly. It took some time for the audience to realise this wasn't part of the act, and a massive/disorganised evacuation began.

It's believed that Longley exited the venue, but went back in to rescue his guitar, and ended up consuming toxic fumes which caused him to perish. Alongside Longley, there was a total of 100 deaths and many injuries.
