10 Musicians Who Died On Stage
7. David Olney
It's somewhat likely that you've not heard of this artist, and that is a real shame.
He's one of the most underrated figures in the music industry and has written some incredible songs, covered later by artists like Steve Earle, Del McCoury and more. He also suffers from the most recent death on this list, having passed away in 2020.
Olney was an American folk singer-songwriter who put out a whopping twenty albums in his long career. Despite having reached the age of 71, he still elected to keep his performance career going, getting up on stage and doing what he loved right up until the end.
His death came during his performance at the 30A Songwriter Festival in Florida. During his third song, he quietly stopped playing and apologised to the audience, sitting down to close his eyes and never opening them again.
It's presumed that he suffered from a heart attack. While such a demise is certainly not pleasant, it must be stated that doing what he loved, surrounded by friends seemed to be a very peaceful way to go for this under-appreciated musician.
