10 Musicians Who Have Joined Multiple Bands
7. Dave Navarro
In the alternative rock scene, Dave Navarro stood out amongst the crowd by being the one guitar player that could actually shred rather than just stick to the tried-and-true chord progression. Though Navarro has his most essential contributions to the hard rock world in the funk-rock of Jane's Addiction, his artistic drive has led him all across the rock spectrum.
With Jane's Addiction on its last legs by the mid-90's, Navarro was quickly picked up by the Red Hot Chili Peppers, who were in dire need of a guitarist after the sudden departure of John Frusciante. Though Navarro lent his six-string fury to the underrated One Hot Minute, he quickly fell out of step with the Peppers and was fired in 1998. Even when not jamming in the Peppers, Navarro performed with an in-studio supergroup with Flea, Taylor Hawkins, and Alanis Morissette on the song "You Oughta Know" from the grunge queen's Jagged Little Pill record.
Along with performing with lords of the alt-rock scene, Navarro's guitar talents quickly gained the notice of the hard rock world, where he lent his guitar chops to everyone from Guns N Roses to Marilyn Manson. Whether it's alt-rock, funk, or pop, Navarro has run the gamut of every guitar-based genre with impeccable ease.
