6. Tourist History - Two Door Cinema Club
Ireland has a tendency to churn out excellent musicians - U2, Van Morrison, The Cranberries. Clearly, Two Door Cinema Club is no exception to this Luck of the Irish rule. The early-20s band has consistently impressed audiences with a very mature sound for a very young group. Perhaps the most interesting thing about the band is the fact that - for one, the lead singer is a ginger - the three only play guitars. Sam Halliday plays lead guitar and provides excellent backing vocals; Alex Trimble leads the band with a unique voice and rhythmic guitar, as well as providing the beats and synth; and Kevin Baird also supplies backing vocals and bass. Similarly to Foster the People, it is hard to classify the genre of Two Door Cinema Club. They are essentially dance-infused indie electropop. Unlike the more mainstream dance-pop bands, TDCC cares a lot about more than just their sound. Their lyrics are generally filled with meaning, which seems to be something dwindling from the younger generations of music. Overall, the band is another Irish gem popping its way more and more into the music scene. Check out 'What You Know' off of Two Door Cinema Club's album Tourist History. http://youtu.be/YXwYJyrKK5A
