10 Must-Have Albums

5. Haughty Melodic - Mike Doughty

Have you ever heard of the early- to late-90s experimental, post-grunge rock band Soul Coughing? They had a few hits like 'Super Bon Bon' and 'Circles.' Well, they broke up in 2000 and their lead singer went solo. Mike Doughty is a jewel of a human being. Having met him personally several times, I can attest to the fact that not every ex-heroin addict is an asshole. Doughty is one of the most kindhearted, honest people. He is dedicated to life and lives it to the best every moment of every day, and this love for life is expressed in every song he writes. Doughty is an established poet and musician. His lyrics are so incomparable. His sound is unique to him. Everything about Mike Doughty is fascinating. Doughty has released several solo albums since his splitting Soul Coughing, which have all been incredible. However I have to go back to his first major-label album, Haughty Melodic (an anagram for his name, Michael Doughty), released by ATO Records. It's incredible. Bask in the glory of Mike Doughty's 'Looking At The World From The Bottom Of A Well' off his album Haughty Melodic. http://youtu.be/NSNuqX3EY70
